Jonathan Huberdo of Florida had a goal and effective help, beating Olli Jokinen for leadership points in a career franchise with 420, and the Panthers beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 8-4 Sunday night.
Eight goals conceded were the highest for Toronto after losing 9-2 at Nashville on November 18, 2014.
Mitch Marner scored twice for Maple Leaves, and Zach Hyman had a goal and two assists. John Tavares scored too.
Toronto goalkeeper Frederick Andersen conceded four goals for 12 shots before being shot for 49 seconds in the second period. Michael Hutchinson stopped 13 shots.
Marner's 13th goal got Maple Leafs for three at the start of the third. But Hoffman converted the time-out from a pass from Huberdo, making it 8-4 with a powerful goal of 4:33 in the period.
Toronto scored a goal with 6:49 left in third place because of a high stick Cody Sesi.
Leading 3-0, the Panthers scored on their first three shots the second. Mateson chased Andersen for 49 seconds. Vatrano's short goal, a shot from the low slot from Paz Barkova, made him 5-0 at 2:25.
Hyman turned the free puck in front, making 5-1 at 3:30 seconds.
A blow from Trochok from the top of the right circle defeated Hutchinson at 5:46 with a score of 6: 1.
Huberdo’s goal, retaliated ahead, increased Panther’s lead to 7-1 at 12:38 p.m.
