Matthew Tkachuk and Elias Lindholm had their own goal and effective help, and Oliver Klington scored his first of the season for Flames (18-14-5).
Johnny Godro assisted on a pair of goals Calgary. The left back has eight points (five goals, three assists) in eight games in December.
Canadiens goalie Carey Price had 24 saves to win. Calgary's colleague Dave Rittich stopped 39 shots in the loser.
Following 2-0 after the opening period, Montreal did not lag behind the goals of Gallagher and the Army in the second.
Killington beat Price with a glove from a slot at 6:35 a.m. to temporarily regain Calgary's advantage, but Suzuki rejected Nick Cousin's pass over Rittich's head at 11:58.
Arthurri Legonen fed the Army from the boards, and the striker unscrewed the puck from the top of the lower face-off corner at 13:11.
Gallagher halved the deficit at 9:51. His hit on the goal line from the boards sandwiched by the Rittich blocker.
Calgary's power play scored a tic-tac-toe goal seven seconds before the end of the first period.
Godro sent the puck low to Tkachuk, who gave Price a shot with all his might so that Lindholm could hook him.
From the slot, Lindholm went to Tkachuk next to the Hubs grid so that the winger would move him to Price at 7:34.
The Flames play road games on Sunday and Monday featuring Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild, respectively.
